Prior to ConvertKit we used Mailchimp. The user interface isn’t as easy to use and we found deliverability (how often our emails made it to a customer’s inbox versus the spam folder) worse with Mailchimp. Mailchimp offers a free pricing tier so it is a great place to start if you are on a tight budget and can’t afford ConvertKit yet.

Long gone are the days of only marketing your direct sales business in-person with pop-up shows in people’s living rooms. Nowadays everyone is online so it is important to be able to connect with your customers where they are. Modern Direct Sellers have an online presence and build their own personal brand within the overall corporate brand to standout and be remembered among the hundreds or thousands of other consultants selling the exact same thing.

step 1 – register a domain name
The first step to creating an online presence is to pick a domain name (or URL) and register it with a domain registrar. For example, myconsultanttraining.com is the domain name for this site. Stuck on what to pick? Your name is always a good option (i.e. firstnamelastname.com)!

step 2 – redirect to your site
After you have a domain name, you can start by simply re-directing it to your corporate provided shopping site. Your new domain name will look professional on business cards and will be easier for people to remember when you tell them how to shop.

step 3 – build your own website
When you are ready to take it to the next level you can point your domain name to a full blown website where customers can learn more about you and connect through a blog.

Canva is a great visual design tool. You can create graphics, documents, presentations and pretty much anything visual! We use Canva to make all of the social media graphics and images you’ll find on my websites. It is very easy to use with drag-and-drop features and a lot of examples to help you get started. Camtasia is the software we use to make all the videos and screen recordings you’ll find here on myconsultanttraining.com and YouTube. It is an extremely simple to use video editing and screen recording software that makes it easy to create amazing videos without being an expert. It is available on both PC and Mac.
