Let’s be real. We can’t do it all. I’ve tried a lot of tools and systems to streamline my business and focus on what matters most to me – time with my family. Here are a few of my most trusted resources and what I love about them. In full disclosure, some of these are affiliate links, which means that if you make a purchase, I’ll earn a commission at no additional expense to you.  I recommend these companies and products because they are useful and helpful in my business, not because of the small commissions I earn if you decide to buy.  I either currently use these products or have used them in the past.

ConvertKit is the software I use to for email list management and building. ConvertKit allows you to tag or segment your subscribers into groups to ensure they only get content based on their specific needs. Then you can set automation rules to deliver a sequence of messages to your subscribers based on their interests. ConvertKit has the most user-friendly interface you will find for list management. Packages start as low as $29/month for up to 1000 subscribers! They also offer a 30-day refund policy so you can try it risk free. Click here to start building your list or check out this blog post to learn why we switched from MailChimp to ConvertKit.

Camtasia is the software I use to make all the videos and screen recordings you’ll find here on myconsultanttraining.com and YouTube.  It is an extremely easy to use video editing and screen recording software that makes it easy to create amazing videos without being an expert.  It is available on both PC and Mac.  Click here to get a free trial and start making awesome videos!

I’m a busy mama and a scheduling tool was exactly what I needed to streamline my business.  Vizzlie is a tool that allows you to batch your work and schedule your Facebook posts within events, groups and pages ahead of time.  It saves you a ton of time so you don’t have to post the same thing over and over again.  It lets you focus on engaging with your party guests instead of trying to figure out what to post next.  Check out this blog post to learn more about how I use Vizzlie or click here to get started with your free 14-day trial.  Make sure to use referral code NMSD2CW when you sign up!

If you don’t think you need a full blown website yet but would like a web address that is easy to remember, use Uniregistry.  For example, wouldn’t you like to be able to tell people to go http://yourdomain.com rather than http://653214.yourdirecsalescompany.com?  It is much easier to remember and looks a lot nicer on a business card!  You can check out this blog post for a step-by-step tutorial to have your domain name forwarded to your home office provided site.  The reason I recommend Uniregistry is because you aren’t required to pay for a hosting plan to do a simple redirect like the example above which saves some money.  They also offer free domain privacy so your contact info associated with your domain name isn’t available for everyone to see.  Domain prices vary based on the extension (.com, .net. club, etc.) but typically cost about $12/year.  Click here to find your domain name!

We recently moved all of our websites to SiteGround. After a few bad support experiences with our previous hosting service we decided it was time to try something new. After a lot of research we decided to try SiteGround and it has turned out to be a great decision! SiteGround support has been phenomenal and they made the move painless. Hosting plans start as low as $3.95/month and they will even move your site for free! We highly recommend SiteGround if you decide you want to create your own website to have as a companion to your corporate cookie-cutter provided website.  If you are looking for help getting started creating your own website, checkout our Build Your Business Online with a Website blog post which walks you step-by-step through the process.

If you are looking to design and build your own website we highly recommend the Divi WordPress theme by Elegant Themes.  Divi is more than just a theme, it’s a website building framework that makes it possible to design beautiful websites without ever touching a single line of code and without installing and configuring dozens of disjointed plugins. It offers a very simple to use drag and drop page builder.  We use the Divi theme for all of our sites.  Click here to try Divi for free or checkout our Build Your Business Online with a Website blog post which walks you step-by-step through the process of creating a website using the Divi theme!

Canva is a great visual design tool.  You can create graphics, documents, presentations and pretty much anything visual!  I use Canva to make all of my social media graphics and images you’ll find on my websites.  Check out this blog post with tips and tricks to make custom graphics in Canva and also get free templates to help you get started making your own graphics.  It is very easy to use with drag-and-drop features and a lot of examples to help you get started.  The best part is there is a free tier that has a lot of functionality and will probably work for your needs!  Click here to try Canva free!

To keep Uncle Sam off our backs, we are required as business owners to keep a vehicle mileage log if we want to take advantage of the mileage allowance for our business during tax time.  I highly recommend you take this allowance because you can save quite a bit of money depending on how much driving you do for your business.  If you don’t do much driving keeping a manual log may be sufficient (you can find a manual mileage tracker in this blog post).  If you do a lot of business driving like me, keeping a manual log isn’t realistic.  TripLog has a cell phone application that works with the bluetooth in your car to automatically track the miles you drive and organize them into trips.  Then you can go through your trips at a convenient time and categorize them as business or personal.  It has been a huge time saver for me and well worth the $30 per year to get mobile and web use!  Use my referral link to start a free trial and get 20% off your first year!  Click here to start automatically tracking your miles!
